Ultra Enamel Gloss

High Performance

Taubmans Ultra Enamel Gloss is a high performance, oil based enamel paint. It's designed for surfaces such as skirting boards, windows, architraves and doors where a high gloss finish is required. Being solvent based, Taubmans Ultra Enamel Gloss requires mineral turps clean up and should only be used in well ventilated rooms.

Handy Hint #4

How to Apply

Surface Preparation Ensure surfaces to be painted are clean, dry and free of contamination. Walls should be wiped down with a mild detergent and rinsed clean with fresh water, even if they don't appear to be dirty, to ensure removal of any surface contamination and ensure the paint has a clean surface to adhere to.
New Work Seal new or bare plaster with Taubmans Prep Right Plaster Sealer. Seal bare wallboards or Gyprock with Taubmans Ultraprep or Taubmans 3 in 1.
Repaint Remove all loose or flaking paint, wash all areas thoroughly to remove any surface contamination. Treat surfaces affected by mould with chlorine bleach diluted one part bleach to four parts water. Rinse clean with fresh water. Spot repair any bare areas such as filled holes as per directions for new work.
Coats Apply two liberal coats by brush, roller or spray. Do not overspread.
Clean Up Mineral turps wash up, away from drains.
Coverage Up to 16m²/litre, depending on nature of surface. Coverage will be lower on rough or absorbent surfaces.
Recoat Recoat after a minimum of 16 hours at 25°C and 50% relative humidity.
Stirring Stir paint with a 25mm wide flat stirrer in a circular lifting motion for at least 5 minutes before use. It is always recommended to stir paint before use to ensure that the colour tints are dispersed evenly throughout the paint.
Temperature Do not use at temperatures below 10°C, above 35°C or when humidity is excessive.
Rapid Yellow Warning The Australian Paint Manufacturers' Federation has issued the following general warning to help users understand one of the key characteristics of oil based paint. All white and pale coloured enamels will yellow with age. Enamels will yellow more rapidly under the following conditions: in areas of low natural light, when applied in poorly ventilated conditions, or in the presence of ammonia (which are common in water based paints and some household chemicals). Only the use of water based acrylic paints can assure resistance to yellowing.
