Taubmans and Shaynna Blaze host charity artwork auction for BirdWeek 2013 19 October 2013

Leading Australian paint brand, Taubmans has partnered with bird conservation charity, BirdLife Australia, in support of National BirdWeek 2013, with the auction of five one-of-a-kind artworks depicting native Australian birds.

Shaynna Blaze, Taubmans’ Colour Creative Director and Brand Ambassador created the five bird artworks, which are made entirely of Taubmans colour paint chips, hand cut to replicate feather textures and colours. The images of the Galah, Kookaburra, Red Tailed Cockatoo, Fairy Wren and Rainbow Lorikeet are featured in Taubmans recently launched Colour Look Book titled ‘Birds of a Feather’ and in the brand’s interior TV advert.

During BirdWeek, the framed artworks, signed by Shaynna Blaze, will be individually auctioned on eBay, with all proceeds going directly to BirdLife Australia. The auction will be run alongside a national poll to find Australia's favourite bird.

Shaynna Blaze says: “Native birds are such an iconic part of Australia and their beautiful colours and textures have inspired many interiors that I’ve designed. It’s such a tragedy that many species are now endangered because their habitats are being destroyed, but fortunately BirdLife Australia is doing a fantastic job of helping to secure their future through its conservation efforts. Taubmans and I are honoured to support such a great cause, and we hope that the Australian public will show their support by bidding on the artworks during BirdWeek.”

Diana Gibson from BirdLife Australia commented, “Taubmans Birds of a Feather Look Book has captured some of the most colourful and well known Australian birds. Our native birds are dependent on rich and diverse habitats across Australia - conserving these habitats for our birds is at the heart of BirdLife Australia’s programs. ”

Through the auction, Taubmans and Shaynna Blaze are aiming to help raise funds for BirdLife Australia to support the conservation of Australia’s native birds and their natural habitats. To get involved, visit the BirdWeek 2013 eBay page and bid for one of five bird artworks. The auctions run from 19th – 25th October.
