Colourful Communities Project - Very Special Kids

PPG Volunteers Transform Very Special Kids with Taubmans Paint

2 min

In July volunteers from across PPG’s Melbourne paint and coating manufacturing sites spent 4 days beautifying the Very Special Kids admin headquarters, kitchen and function areas with Taubmans paint as part of PPG’s global Colourful Communities initiative.

Very Special Kids provides holistic palliative care for children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and tailored support for their families – through life, death and bereavement. Their integrated approach includes emotional, clinical and practical support to improve quality of life and create positive, lasting memories.

As Victoria’s only children’s hospice, Very Special Kids’ services support more than 700 families across Victoria.

PPG donated Taubmans interior paint to support the repaint of the administration building’s interior walls, including the entry ways, meeting room, function area and kitchen.

Very Special Kids CEO, Michael Wasley said, “We’re really grateful for the support from PPG, having this important work done means the funds that we would normally have had to spend on repainting and upgrading the facility can now go to the children that we’re supporting.”

Managing Director of PPG Australia and New Zealand, Claire Walker said, “PPG’s purpose is to protect and beautify the world, this is PPG’s 10th year of supporting Colourful Communities projects globally, and we’ve just committed to another 10 years. It’s all about making a difference wherever we can.”

Taubmans merchandise partners, Monarch and iQuip, also donated paint brushes, rollers, drop sheets, personal protective equipment (PPE) and more.

The Colourful Communities program, PPG’s signature initiative for supporting communities, aims to protect and beautify the neighbourhoods where PPG operates around the world. Through the program, PPG’s committed volunteers contribute their time and PPG paint products to help transform community assets – from painting classrooms to bringing colour to a maternity ward and redesigning a playground. Since 2015, PPG has completed nearly 600 Colourful Communities projects, impacting more than 10.2 million people in over 50 countries. Learn more here.
