The Indiana Teahouse on Cottesloe Beach is one of Western Australia’s most recognised buildings. Established in the mid-1990s and listed as a state heritage site, it draws locals and tourists alike with its oceanfront views and distinctive architecture. The venue includes a restaurant on the upper level, a kiosk on the middle level, and the Cottesloe Beach Surf Life Saving Club on the ground floor.
Recently, the team at Reshine Painting and Maintenance partnered with Taubmans to carry out a full exterior repaint and outdoor furniture refresh—restoring the charm and resilience of this beloved beachfront icon.
Addressing the Impact of Time and Ocean Exposure
The building had gone without repainting for many years, leaving it vulnerable to the harsh marine environment. Constant salt exposure, wind, and sun had eroded both painted surfaces and outdoor structures, calling for a solution that would meet heritage standards while delivering lasting protection.
Taubmans products were specified for their proven performance in demanding coastal conditions and their ability to match the building’s original colour palette.
High-Performance Paint Finishes for Heritage Protection
For the exterior, a combination of Taubmans All Weather in Matt, Low Sheen, and Gloss finishes were used in existing heritage colours. These products were applied to the textured exterior, windowsills, and frames.
The outdoor tables were refreshed using Taubmans All Weather in bright colours, paying tribute to the beach boxes and umbrellas.
